Oh dear, if you look at how my TBR looked last month, I appear to have been rather wicked … And, indeed, my new Book Confessions category does tell a rather sorry tale, doesn’t it. But it’s only books, and it’s not as big as it has been! Plus at least four of the new books are quite substantial hardbacks, so a lot of space is taken up by each book. Hm, OK, I give up.
Talking of new categories, I’ve now got a Business Book Reviews strand, too. If you’ve published a business book that you’d like me to review, please get in touch (leave me a message here or via my Contact page)
Anyway, what’s coming up?Well, this is the front of my TBR shelf – there are 16 books on there, which is perhaps optimistic, but there are some short ones, plus I have a couple of train trips coming up which always help with the reading … Anything on there take your fancy? I see I’m well into September 2012 now, which is gratifying, although I had a bumper acquisition month that month, with gifts, a dip into The Works and the Iris Murdoch conference.
Coming up first is the April Barbara Pym. I do love this cover – so reminiscent of places I’ve worked – and I bought this book in 1994 so another old favourite. By the time this is published, I will have started reading it, I’m sure!
What are you planning to read in April?

My TBR has barely shifted it seems. I’ve had to declare “Beloved” as my first DNC of the year, and it seems I’ve been reading nothing but ER books and spirals (with the odd quick win of a graphic novel thrown in).
I’ve therefore decided to concentrate on shifting down some of my TBR paperbooks for a while and see where that gets me!

Have you managed to hack through all the ER books and spirals now, then? I have never managed Beloved myself, I have to say!

The Spirals have come and gone. I’ve got 1.75 ER books to read, but am putting them aside for a bit. One from the Jan batch, one from the March batch. I must stop putting myself forward for them, silly girl!

was talking to Ali about that a few weeks ago – quite agree with both of you in that if you don’t like sci-fi, fantasy or romances, then the offerings are dire!

My TBR is worse I can promise you that.
My March reads/April reading post is sheduled for later today – but I can reveal that I am planning on reading Sense and sensibility, some Mapp and Lucia a couple of Persephone books, Vile Bodies and another Pym. What I can’t decide is which of those to start first.

Oh! Yes, I was going to read Sense and Sensibility, too, wasn’t I! Thanks for reminding me – hooray! Another Pym? To get ahead, or the letters? Did you want to borrow those?

Mine is very big. Just started a book bought for me in 2007.

Nice to hear from you, Estella! That’s impressive, but you don’t read yours in acquisition order, do you? – I hope not, anyway!

My tbr is very, very scary – it’s so big, it isn’t actually a separate area, but just many masses of books interspersed with the read ones. I really must set myself a challenge of reading only from the tbr – maybe in a year I would get through a big chunk of it……. I don’t read in any particular order except where the whim takes me, so it can be a re-read, a book I bought years ago or the one I just got – I’m not very systematic, I’m afraid…… 🙂

Being systematic just makes it easier to choose – I do try not to read something by the same author or two very similar books in a row, though …
