I think I read about this first on Beyond Eden Rock: write a blog post composed of the first lines of the first blog post of each month. I think I did this last year in this way, too, sharing instead images of my waxing and waning (OK, waxing) TBR! Watch as books work their way to the top (front left) and disappear … very slowly! Links on the month names give you the actual posts and more detail.
I thought this was quite fun: I hope you enjoyed it, too!

I really enjoy the idea of using first lines in a blog. Even thought that it might be a way to encourage me to start finally a 2017 Christmas family newsletter – it is only the 18th December so I have got time! Haven’t I?

Of course! I seem to have done my blog post this way for a couple of years now – interesting to see it never got that small even in June after my month of post-op reading, reading, reading!

Of course, I saw this. I wasn’t sure that you were talking about this post, Liz. I loved it. I loved how your TBR moved from one end to the other. I am sure they moved grudgingly. 😉

Aha, glad you saw it! I like to think they moved eagerly, to make room for more and to get to the state of being read …

This was fun. It was almost like those old flip cartoons you draw on the edges of a pad and flip through to make the figures move!

A nice way to track your reading over the months, and I find it oddly reassuring that your TBR ended the year as big as it started…. ;)))

Unless I get a reading wriggle on, the real and terrible comparison will be January 2018’s image …

I think Santa may need to bring you an extra shelf for Christmas… 😉

It’s a three-shelf bookcase, of which two belong to my husband, so I can shift the Pile down onto the front of one of his shelves and gain that space …

Liz, I think this is actually a very restrained shelf compared to my bulging TBR, I also liked when the Iris Murdoch injection of titles came all at once, setting yourself up for the Readalong.

Ah, that’s nice to read! I enjoyed seeing them appear too but I wasn’t sure anyone else would notice.

You can’t imagine what it will be in Jan 2018! Eeps! Unless I get a real read on over Christmas … And thank you!

I am impressed that your TBR is so disciplined that titles actually do get to the top, albeit eventually!

It’s really less discipline than unwillingness to have to make decisions!

What an awesome idea. I should take more regular photos. I’m really trying to purge though. too many TBR shelves
