Liz & Matthew’s wedding April 2014
We got married on 12 April 2014 and we’re sharing some of our photos on this page. We hope you enjoy having a look at them – there are just a few for now and there will be a full slideshow later on. Oh, and to answer some questions we’ve been asked, yes, I’ve changed my name to Liz Dexter, no I won’t be changing my name on my books, and yes, Libro will still be Libro!
If you’ve been kind enough to ask us about our wedding list.
We’re fortunate and have pretty well everything we need for the house etc. So we’ve nominated a few charities and one micro-lending site, and we’d be thrilled if you donated to any of these, or made a loan, in our name, in your name, or whatever.
We’ve each nominated two charities, plus jointly chosen to tell you about Kiva …
LUCIA (Life Uplifted by Change in Africa) a small charity run by Liz’s ex-library colleagues which supports women and girls in Ethiopia by funding education, libraries and microbusiness ventures.
Kiva – Kiva is a micro-lending site which gives loans to individual people and groups to help them with their small businesses – whether that’s a woman with a goat farm in Africa, weavers in Paraguay or a bookshop owner in Iran. You can choose who you lend to and, if you do a direct loan rather than buying a gift loan for us, you will receive that loan back and be able to re-loan it again and again. We’ve made many loans over the past few years and it’s very heartwarming to think you’re helping someone help themselves in a country far from here and very different.
If you’ve made a donation or loan in celebration of our wedding, do feel free to let us know using the comments below or privately via email, etc. Thank you!
If you would rather feel that you’ve given us something directly, we’d be delighted to receive John Lewis vouchers, which we would put towards updating a few things in the kitchen. Thank you!
