Well, I don’t think this is looking too bad, given the state it was in back in February! It’s been helped by the fact that I finished 12 books in March (11 reviewed, one still to review), which is quite a high total for me these days. As I mentioned in my last review, this is probably down to there being not very much at all on the TV that I’ve wanted to watch. I do have a Pile which was added to in the month with some light Debbie Macomber reads, but then a Reykjavik Murder Mystery came off the pile, so …
I love the fact that I’m currently reading an old-style Pelican (I’ve got all the way through to Poetry in “The Modern Writer and his World”; it’s very readable although I kind of wish he’d gone by decade and not by genre) and a new-style Penguin (I’m very much enjoying this book about making a lot of things out of an ash tree). One bought on the Charing Cross Road and one bought in Penzance, which is nice.
Up next, I have this lot. Is this representative of my reading taste – a running book, two music memoirs, a children’s book from the 1920s/30s, a mid-century reprint, a Mitford autobiography and a Francis Brett Young? Probably not (add in a Virago or Persephone, a travel book and some sociology, and maybe) but it looks like a lovely lot to keep me going. I’ve only got two Arnaldur Indriðasons left and have four more Elizabeth Fairs to review, so those will feature this month, too).
Anything special going on for you for April? Did you have a good reading month in March? Which of these appeal to you?

My husband has the Mark Ellen book and I’ve been dying to read it! Look forward to hearing what you think of it x

I should get to that one reasonably soon and I’m really looking forward to it!

12 books is great. I am looking forward to the 1951 club I have at least 3 books already to choose from. I am currently into the final forty pages of A Wreath for the enemy by Pamela Frankau which is fabulous and hope to get some von Arnim on for the LT Virago group monthly author read.

There was nothing I fancied reading for the 1951 club that I haven’t already read so I will concentrate on my TBR and review books. Just finished the E. Fair you’ve read and loved it!

You are doing well! I keep meaning to read Leverson – I do have some of her work somewhere – but as always it’s getting round to it!

She does look good. I got slightly panicky about the smallness of my TBR which is ridiculous as I have at least six months’ reading right there, sitting looking at me!

I am very impressed by 12books in a month – I managed 3 and was feeling pretty pleased with myself, I will try to do better. I am reading Cadel Even’s autobiography, like you with running I love books on cycling and any travel writing that involved any physical activity

Well, that was high for me, and I put it down to not spending much time watching TV (OK) or with my husband (oops). I like adventure books, too, and I’ve read a couple of triathlon books or ones like Dervla Murphy’s where they cycle somewhere, if not actual cycling books.

The Diana Mosely sparked my interest. Like Ali I am gearing up for the 1951 club, probably by reading Josephine Tey.

Yes, it should be interesting to read something by her rather than just about her; I’m looking forward to that one. At the moment, I need to read a Lorna Landvik novel from 20 years ago as the book of hers I won on NetGalley is a sequel. Argh! No 1951 club for me as I’ve read everything I fancy from that year already!
